Waffles
We had lots of fruit lying around that needed to be eaten and what goes better with fruit than waffles?
I really like these waffles - they taste so yummy just the way they are, but are also great with fruit and whipped cream, or with Nutella, or maple syrup & nuts and cream, ...
Ingredients:
- 100g butter, softened
- 80g sugar (or 100g if the waffles are eaten plain -> the additional sugar also makes them a bit more fluffy)
- 2 eggs
- vanilla sugar
- 1 dash of rum
- 1 tsp baking powder (my recipe says 1/2 TL, but the teaspoons I used to use in Germany are larger than the measuring tsp here in the US)
- 150g flour
- 50g ground almonds
- 200ml milk
Instructions:
Beat butter, sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add the vanilla sugar and rum. Add the baking powder. Add the flour and ground almonds, then add the milk. These take 5 minutes in my waffle maker and make 8 waffles.
I usually freeze the leftover, lighter ones and heat one up in the toaster from frozen when I feel like one.
